Meet Emily
Wife, mother, dog lover.
Like so many in our community, my path has been shaped by a deep belief in service, hard work, and doing right by the people around me. I began my career in the classroom, teaching and working directly with students and families. Those years grounded me in what matters most, listening, problem-solving, and showing up every day ready to make a difference.
I went on to earn my doctorate in educational leadership and continued my work in public service, including time in the Virginia House of Delegates as a legislative aide, where I see firsthand how decisions made in Richmond impact communities like Winchester. I enjoy helping constituents navigate state agencies and reviewing policy. My experience strengthened my commitment to practical, local solutions, not politics as usual.
As a member of City Council, I’ve worked to keep our community moving forward while staying rooted in the values that make Winchester special. I’ve made it a priority to be accessible, to listen, and to ensure that the voices of our residents are heard and respected in every decision. That means sometimes, I’m the only dissenting vote. I won’t go along to get along, and if something isn’t right for the majority of Winchester residents, I’m going to push back.
I believe in responsible government, transparency, and making smart choices that protect taxpayers while investing in our future. That means supporting public safety, addressing challenges like housing and substance abuse, and strengthening the economic foundation that allows our community to thrive.
